Khayakazi Madlala & Phenye Modiane will take the stage at Joburg Theatre next week to give you what is deemed as the world’s most romantic opera #GOlaBohème. Yes, the ‘Worlds.
You can check out the official poster below if you think we are making this up. This is a production taken from the legendary composer Giacomo Puccini’s work, the big dog of theatre productions.
This all-time favourite opera stars characters Rodolfo who happens to be in love with his neighbour Mimi, Musetta, who is already in a relationship with Marcello and everything else that revolves around this universal language of love.
We managed to sneak in during the rehearsals yesterday to make sure we tell you about something we have first-hand experience with. We hope you are an avid lover of vintage fashion because the fashion, apart from the talented cast and antique set design, caught our eye! we’re talking vintage bags, dresses, trench coats and all that jazz. Wardrobe mistress, Phumeza Yamane, made it clear that the colour scheme for the play is black with colour pops here and there, so expect to be taken back to 1896 Italian fashion.
Directed by Marcus Desando, LaBoheme is set to be one for the books so get your hands on the tickets and come see and be seen during 18 to 23 July 2017.
